Results: The participants reported an average retention rate of 81.0% 6 17.9%. We found a significant prediction equation (F4,1671⁄4 16.39, R21⁄4 0.282, P , .001), using the perceptions of student success factor (P , .001, R21⁄4 0.162), the timing of formal admission (P , .001, R 1⁄4 0.124), the number of years the ATPs had been accredited (P 1⁄4 .001, R 1⁄4 0.039), the number of students admitted to the ATP annually (P1⁄4 .001, R21⁄4 0.037), and the number of years the PDs had held their position at their current institution (P 1⁄4 .03, R 1⁄4 0.018).

Why They Leave: Understanding Student Attrition from Engineering Majors
A large number of students leave engineering majors prior to graduation despite efforts to increase retention rates. To improve retention rates in engineering programs, the reasons why students leave engineering must be determined. In this paper, we review the literature on attrition from engineering programs to identify the breadth of factors that contribute to students’ decisions to leave. Fi...

College academic success and retention have traditionally been predicted using demographic and academic variables. This study moved beyond traditional predictors. A survey of 218 undergraduate students from a private Midwestern university revealed that emotional and social factors (e.g., stress, frequency of alcohol consumption) related to GPA and emotional factors (e.g., self-esteem, fatigue) ...

What is the impact of any changes in student numbers on university funding? What is the impact of any changes in student numbers on the workforce? Have student characteristics (ie, gender, country of origin, background) changed? DES...
